If you Google the Disk of Phaistos, you'll get approximately 161,000 results, just what you'd expect from one of the world's most Inscrutable ancient relics. The ancient ruins of Phaistos, where the disk was discovered, is the sister palace of the famous Minoan Palace of Knossos, home of the legendary labyrinth of the man-eating Minotaur who was said to be half-man, half-bull. The huge number of search results is due to the archeological debate about deciphering the the hieroglyphics and age of the disk.

The disk was discovered in 1908 by the Italian archaeologist Luigi Pernier. It is composed of 45 hieroglyphic signs spiraling clockwise towards the center of the clay disk. You can see a picture of both sides of the clay disc by linking to www.minoanatlantis.com/Minoan_Science.php and then scrolling down to the image of the two disk on the right of the screen.
